PEACEFUL LIVING
RESPECTING your neighbours ...
ENHANCING our community
Living in a vibrant urban community means enjoying the best of city life, whilst also being mindful of those around you. Sound travels easily between apartments, so small actions can make a big difference to your neighbours’ comfort.
Everyday noise awareness
Even routine sounds like moving furniture, scraping chairs or playing music can be heard by neighbours next door, above or below. Hard flooring can amplify these noises even if your apartment meets acoustic insulation standards.
Here’s how to contribute to keeping things peaceful:
-
Add soft pads to the legs of chairs, tables and balcony furniture – these help reduce scraping sounds and are available at supermarkets or hardware
-
Keep music at a respectful volume, especially after 10pm – bass vibrations travel easily between floors
-
Close balcony doors when playing music or entertaining – this will help contain sound within your apartment
Balcony etiquette
-
Secure all balcony furniture – strong winds can blow items off, creating safety risks
-
Attach soft pads to balcony furniture legs to reduce noise – check regularly as they can wear out or fall off
-
NEVER throw items from your balcony – this includes cigarette butts, which can cause fires on lower levels
Hallway courtesy
Sound carries easily in common area hallways
-
Greet and farewell guests inside your lot
-
Keep voices low when walking through shared spaces
Waste disposal
-
DO NOT leave waste near the chute
-
Avoid noisy disposal during early or late hours
-
Large boxes and recyclables should be taken to the bins in the visitor car park
-
Never force oversized items into the chute – it can block the system
